چکیده
A Monte Carlo simulation has been performed to track light rays in cylindrical fibres by ray optics. The trapping efficiencies for skew and meridional rays in active fibres and distributions of characteristic quantities for all trapped light rays have been calculated. The simulation provides new results for curved fibres, where the analytical expressions are too complex to be solved. The light losses due to sharp bending of fibres are presented as a function of the ratio of curvature to fibre radius and bending angle. It is shown that a radius of curvature to fibre radius ratio of greater than 65 results in a loss of less than 10% with the loss occuring in the initial stage of the bend (at bending angles Φ ∼ π/8 rad).

متن کاملBeam & Shell Models for Composite Straight or Curved Bridge Decks with Intermediate Diaphragms & Assessment of Design Specifications
In this research effort, the generalized warping and distortional problem of straight or horizontally curved composite beams of arbitrary cross section, loading and boundary conditions is presented. An inclined plane of curvature is considered. Additionally, the stiffness of diaphragmatic plates has been introduced in the formulation in order to compare with the case where rigid diaphragms are ...
متن کاملQuantum Squeezed Light Propagation in an Optical Parity-Time (PT)-Symmetric Structure
We investigate the medium effect of a parity-time (PT)-symmetric bilayer on the quantum optical properties of an incident squeezed light at zero temperature (T=0 K). To do so, we use the canonical quantization approach and describe the amplification and dissipation properties of the constituent layers of the bilayer structure by Lorentz model to analyze the quadrature squeezing of the outgoing ...

The computational cost of numerical simulations of QCD with light dynamical Wilson-quarks is estimated. The qualitative behaviour of the pion mass and coupling at small quark masses is discussed.

Ultra-short pulse is a promising technology for achieving ultra-high data rate transmission which is required to follow the increased demand of data transport over an optical communication system. Therefore, the propagation of such type of pulses and the effects that it may suffer during its transmission through an optical waveguide has received a great deal of attention in the recent years. We...
